I think it’s one of those areas where the balance between privacy, transparency and accountability gets complicated pretty quickly.

Once business can do smart contracts they need private and public ledger because that is how businesses operate. They have private and public information. Putting everything on a public ledger isn't going to work for them.

To model business processes we need both (and smart contract coming soon).

I'm not sure if what follows belongs in this chat category as it's not directly concerned with hard fork 6, but it is in response to what was discussed during the interview between Doug & Andrey. If not, please let me know and I can paste it in another category.

Two aspects jumped out of the conversation.

Firstly, Andrey's concern about the power of AI to infiltrate crypto blockchains / code and do real damage. Fortunately it appears the Zano team are harnessing AI to work to their advantage. But how my are doing this?

Secondly, his whole position on the moral / ethical aspect of privacy. Unlike Doug who was more positive about where this was going, Andrey seemed somewhat subdued & disheartened (at least that was my perception). Maybe it is is because Doug is American and Andrey is Russian.

But the way I see it is if crypto is going to have any practical applications - in business especially, some form of privacy is essential. Of course the financial controllers want all of us eventually to be visible on a transparent tokenised blockchain - but will they want that for themselves? I doubt it. They will insist on their own privacy to allow them to carry on their murky business practices as usual.

Then here lies the irony and why our world is so screwed up. Government / authorities should be the only transparent party - so they can be held accountable to us the people - whom they represent (that's a joke!). Self sovereignty belongs to we the citizens which includes a right to privacy. But as we know everything is upside down and backwards, so we have to swim against the current and where necessary demand / create what is rightfully ours. Zano is a part of this process - a very important part.
