Zano Price
-
I'm just curious but the huge amounts of price movement is this price "manipulation"? The huge growth in the price of the coin with no recent positive news is quite odd, like HF6 has been known for a while. The order books also don't seem very strong. Just looking for some other opinions/input.

What is it that makes you suspicious? A range of $5 to $17 for the last 2 years with Zano at $9 currently.

Blockchain coin price manipulation is very possible the smaller the market cap. For stuff in the 6-7 digit range it would be easy. For the 8 digit range it would be harder. Zano's market cap is about $140 million so possible but I doubt it.

@tommycat When the price of Zano was in the $9-$10 range compared to other coins of similar market cap and volume Zano’s order books were extremely thin. You could’ve crashed the price of Zano back down to $8 with about 1,500 Zano. The order books were extremely weak which makes me think there was price “manipulation”.
Even at Zano’s current price purchasing 1,500 zano especially broken into segments could bring the price back up to above $9.5.
Could be influenced by the fact Ourbit and MEXC are almost directly correlated to each other. If you clear the order book on Ourbit, MEXC’s price almost immediately reacts to the spike. These 2 together affect the rest of the market.

I understand people's concerns and hope these insights and comments are valuable:
-
Since Zano is a hybrid PoW/PoS blockchain, users would rather stake their coins instead of trading. This naturally results in thinner liquidity.
-
Not all liquidity is on the order books; as the price moves, new orders appear.
-
Users can sell ZANO for fUSD through the Freedom Dollar website with $5000 USD per sell, and can repeat this as many times as they like. fUSD can be swapped 1:1 for USDT/USDC, also through that same website, or through exchanges they're supported on. https://www.freedomdollar.com/en
-
You can swap a whole 1 BTC for about 6500 ZANO through https://www.wizardswap.io/
As you can see, there are plenty of ways to swap decent sizes of ZANO both ways without moving the price too much. That said, there is plenty of room for improvement, and after HF6 this will happen through listings on DEXes like THORChain where we'll make sure there will be decent liquidity as well.
