  • Escrow on Zano's Execution Layer
    htzanoH htzano

    @Ruroni99
Yeah similar spirit to RetoSwap but different mechanics.

Here the escrow would be a contract, and the arbitrators never have any path to the money at all.
They hold no keys, they only vote on the outcome and earn a separate dispute fee, and the contract itself pays out based on the vote.

It's also general purpose digital escrow (paying for work, AI agent tasks, P2P trades where one leg is off chain) rather than being built around fiat to crypto swaps specifically.

There's no special validator, arbitrators are just people who register by posting a stake, and a small panel of them votes if a dispute happens.
If they go silent, anyone can void the deal after a timeout and both sides take their own funds back, so nobody is trusted to stay online.
On ZEL the chain's own validators would play no special role beyond running the chain.

Previous build is on Beam. It's a shader contract live on their mainnet with a dapp in the Beam dapp store, so the ZEL version would be a Solidity port of a design that already runs, not a from scratch experiment.
seems AI agents are using escrows a fair amount lately, so it be cool to build one for Zano

  • Freedom Dollar (fUSD) — the private, decentralized stablecoin native to Zano
    htzanoH htzano

My understanding is there are no external oracles, each market maker node acts as its own price feed, pulling Zano's spot price straight from the CoinEx and MEXC order books in real time.

i got told by a guy that if Zano got to the 4 dollar area that freedom dollar would de peg...... and it was fine i reminded him that we were at the 4 dollar area only got crickets.
i think he asked the AI and one thing he did not take into account was the market makers
so its had a good test from 10 to 4

  • A gas top up bot for stuck fUSD holders
    htzanoH htzano

Testing interest in a small service for a common problem, people win fusd in campaigns, make a phone wallet, then can't move it because they have no Zano for gas. Stuck unless they go buy Zano,
been seeing this often now, i mean sure they could just go buy, but i thought perhaps this would be a cool feature
A bot on telegram sells them a bit of ZANO for fUSD via an ionic swap. They create the proposal in their own wallet, the bot finalises it and covers the network fee, so it works with zero Zano on their side. Atomic swap means they never send funds first, scam-resistant by design. Cost would be ~0.17 fUSD for $1 of ZANO, covering gas plus a little for running it.

Worth building what you guys think?
would you point stuck users to it

  • Smart contracts on Zano — any plans, or worth discussing?
    htzanoH htzano

yeah Zel is a public EVM, privacy is about where you hold assets, not where they execute at least for this set up.
ZEL is basically a utility layer for assets , bridge in, do the public defi stuff bridge back to Zano L1 where everything stays confidential.
So yeah, an fUSD pool on ZEL would be fully visible.
not really sure about your other questions

  • Using Comments Box in Zano Wallets
    htzanoH htzano

    @spazano
Funny timing, I looked at this exact thing tonight, wondering if comments could work as a private messaging layer, not really.
Every message is a transaction, so there's a fee and a block wait each time, and the field caps at 255 characters like you said.
There's no relay layer underneath carrying messages between wallets, the comment is a memo that happens to be private. Fine for a note, not really for a conversation.
not sure whats going on with the lite, devs may take a look when there not so flat out

  • Escrow on Zano's Execution Layer
    htzanoH htzano

With the Execution Layer coming Id like to build a kick ass escrow

The shape would be..... buyer locks payment in the contract, seller locks collateral, work or goods get delivered, funds release. If there's a disagreement it goes to a small panel of staked arbitrators who vote, and the arbitrators never touch the disputed money, they only earn a separate dispute fee, so they have no reason to rule either way.
Nobody can win by going silent either, if the buyer stalls the seller claims after a timeout, if the arbitrators stall anyone can void it and both sides take their own funds back.

What I'd picture it used for here, paying someone for work without trusting them first, P2P trades where one leg is off chain, marketplace deals between strangers. The private L1 stays the money layer, funds bridge in, settle, bridge out.

For context, I've built and run this exact system on another chain, it's live on mainnet with all the dispute paths proven with real funds.
im putting this out there as id really like to see if theres an interest for it to happen on Zano

So would you use an escrow like this?
And if yes, what would you actually use it for?
That's the part I really want to hear.
